silicone rubber on a flat-screen TV

Sourced from a corrupted MP4 file, this video was recorded by my parents in 2004 while my mother was pregnant with me. It was meant for me to discover at 18, capturing a conversation in which they speak to my future self about their lives at that moment in time. Through datamoshing, I merge this footage with images of Ecuadorian landscapes from a trip we took along a now-extinct trail system. Memory and identity unfold through my parents’ lens, fragmented, mediated, and reassembled across time.
